 Laptops consume less power than desktops as they are designed in a way which allows you to move around freely without dragging your charger everywhere you go.

It will cost you less to power a laptop than a desktop.

LESS CABLE MESS:

For laptops, there’s only one charger cable whereas desktops have tangled mess of cables that makes your desk untidy and disorganized.

Compatibility has been ensured by embedding many components on the motherboard.

To work on a smaller motherboard, those components are chosen which would work well in accordance to their size.

To make it compact enough and meet anticipated performance levels, the development costs have gone through the roof.

CPU:

CPU is also soldered on the motherboard through BGA(Ball Grid Array) to save space.

It operates amazingly well  as far as power consumption is concerned. Keep in mind that processors should be able to  resist certain temperatures to make an effective soldering process.

These power management features can push the costs up to an unreachable extent.

RAM:

Laptops use SODIMM(small outline dual in-line memory module) whereas Desktops use DIMM(dual in-line memory module).

SODIMMs are used in systems that have less space. It does not affect the price negatively.

DRIVES:

M.2 SSD is used that ensures commendable performance.Laptop hard drives are smaller and compact than desktops.

They are costly with lower storage capacity and performance.

COOLING SYSTEM:

Since components are closed together in a small space, a better heat dissipation is required that will surely add to its costs.

The cooling system is developed in such a way that it remains compact and efficient.
